How can I create a free account?
You can create a free account by providing us with a username, password and a valid e-mail address.

How is the PodNova Top 40 calculated?
We can't explain in detail, but it has to do with quantity (number of subscribers) and quality (ratings).

They are often displayed in the right bar, but we also created a dedicated page for featured Channels with an archive.

Why do some podcasts sounds funny like chipmunks?
We created a Flash player to listen online to mp3's, unfortunately Flash doesn't support mp3's which are encoded at a rate that is not a multiple of 11.025 kHz. When you download the file with the PodNova Desktop Client, it will play normally on your computer or mp3 device.

What is the difference between private and public channels?
Private channels are created by PodNova for the account holder (i.e. Clippings, friends, inbox). Public channels are maintained by third parties, and those are the channels you subscribe to.

How can I share an Episode?
If you're logged on you get an extra menu in the righthand bar which says "Share this Episode". Click that specific link, select the friend you want to send it to, optionally type an extra message and confirm by clicking the button.

How can I rate a Channel or Episode?
If you're logged on you get an extra menu in the righthand bar which says "Rate this Channel" or "Rate this Episode". Click on a star to confirm your rating. You can change your rating at any time by clicking on another star.

Why should I be claiming my Channel?
We have some very interesting statistical features up our sleeve for feed owners. For now, the feed will show up nicely within your profile.

How can I claim my Channel?
On the Channel you'd like to claim there is a link located under 'Details' which says "Claim this Channel!". Click that link and follow the instructions.

What are Clippings?
Clippings are separate Episodes you select to be queued, by using Clippings you don't have to fully subscribe to a Channel.

What is the difference between public and private tags?
Public tags are shared and visible for all account holders. Private tags are only visible for you. If you'd like to use language specific words, then you can use private tags.

How can I search with tags?
On the Channel and Episode pages it is possible to click on tags to search for related content. These tags are marked with this icon: icon Search Tag.

How can I filter with tags?
We not only use tags to search for related content, but -at the same time- also to organize your subscriptions. If you click on a tag within the subscriptions part (Subscriptions and Today) you filter the current page on that specific tag. These tags are marked with this icon: icon Filter Tag.

You can add/remove tags on the Channel and Episode pages.

What is PodNova Today?
PodNova Today is a so called "River of News". Dave Winer has a nice definition of how a River of News works. To this concept we've added the element of scrolling through the Episodes themselves (by being able to rotate through the various Episodes per Channel). And on top of that it is also possible to apply filter tags to have a better overview on the content.

Where can I see an overview of Channels I'm currently subscribed to?

What is 'Import OPML'?
It's possible that you have your current subscriptions in some software which lets you create an export in OPML format. If so, you can use that file to import all those subscriptions in one time to PodNova.

Why should I download the PodNova Desktop Client?
You can use a variety of different client applications to work with PodNova (iTunes, Juice Receiver, and any other client which supports Dynamic OPML). However, we recommend using the client we've developed ourself as it integrates the nicest with the online environment. Download your (free) copy.

How can I enable single click subscriptions?
You can generate a single click chicklet by providing your feed and hit the 'Generate chicklet code' button. Then copy/paste this piece of HTML in your site, and you're set.

How can I add a friend?
On the profile pages there is a button available which says "add friend", if you click it, a request will be send to that person. If that person accepts you as a friend, than you both have the ability to share Channels and Episodes.

Who has access to the Area for Channel Owners?
The Area for Channel Owners is set up for people who have successfully claimed their Channels. You can configure various administrative settings, view statistics, enable donations and lots more. To verify that you own a Channel, you need to Claim it.

How can I access the Area for Channel Owners?
You need to have a Free Account, and you must have claimed at least one Channel successfully. After that there is a link displayed on your profilepage which is linking to the Area for Channel Owners.

Can I enable PayPal donations via PodNova?
Sure. If you have a PayPal account, you can start accepting donations via PodNova immediately. If you don't have a PayPal account yet, create one first.

No, we just make it as easy as possible for Channel owners to start accepting donations.

How come that my Channel shows up in a (sub)directory?
If you didn't set it manually in the Area for Channel Owners, then you probably have tags in your feed for iTunes to specify a category. We inherit these settings. As our directory is extended you do have the possibility to manually override the iTunes specific tags.

How can I get my Channel in a certain (sub)directory?
You can do so by clicking the icon which says 'Configure administrative settings for this Channel'. You then access a page where you specify the (sub)directories where you'd like your Channel to show up.
