A health professionals moral beliefs vs. the professional obligation to provide care
The federal government has proposed a new rule which would protect a health care professional from providing care that violated his or her own personal morals and conscience. Critics say that this law, referred to as ???provider conscience regulatons,??? could significantly impinge on a woman???s right to receive the reproductive health care of her choice. We debate the issue with University of St. Thomas law professor TERESA COLLETT and MARCIA GREENBERGER of the National Women???s Law Center.
