The Lower Mainland is at a transportation crossroads. There are two basic choices: One is to go back to the 1950's vision of the Vancouver region as a tangle of freeways, following the Los Angeles model towards automobile dependent sprawl, gridlock and environmental decline. The other is a future with effective and appropriate public transit that gives people a real choice about how they get around, without choking our communities on traffic and pollution.
