Lt. Gen. Robert S. Van Antwerp: Chief, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
On his way back from a tour of work in Iraq on July 10, Lt. Gen. Robert Van Antwerp, the new chief of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, stopped by Engineering News-Record's New York City offices for a briefing. Van Antwerp told Editor-in-Chief Janice Tuchman that people see your priorities by how you spend your time. Since he was confirmed on May 18, he also has made three trips to New Orleans. His visit to ENR was also a curtain raiser for the Corps' Hurricane Protection Decision Chronology Report—set to be released at midnight that day. The report will detail the chain of decisions made that eventually led to the post-Katrina catastrophe.
