Professor Yitzhak Apeloig The President of Technion- Israel Institute of Technology. Professor Yitzhak Apeloig was nominated as President of the Technion in October 2001. In 2005 he was nominated for a second 4-year term. Yitzhak Apeloig completed his B.Sc. (1967), M.Sc. (1969) and Ph.D. (1974) studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and after postdoctoral studies at Princeton University he joined in 1976, the Faculty of Chemistry at the Technion in Haifa, Israel where he was promoted to the rank of full Professor in 1988 and became a Chair incumbent in 1993. In 1995-1999 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry. In his term as Technion president he shows visionary leadership, striving for excellence in research and teaching. On top of his priorities are the recruitment of young brilliant faculty and the encouragement of excellence and leadership in research, especially in multidisciplinary fields cutting across disciplines, such as nanotechnology and the interface between engineering, the life-sciences and medicine.
