Hamtramck Disneyland, Episode Three
Our third and final episode on Hamtramck Disneyland from Carrie Williams. One thing you may not realize in viewing photos of Hamtramck Disneyland, is that it is entirely wind-activated and far from randomly assembled. In fact, much of it comprises of mechanical moving parts! In this particular scene Dmytro had just demonstrated to me the windmill, which you can find on the left of Dmytro and the Concorde. The axis rotates, the blades rotate, and in doing so activates tiny toy workers attached to the windmill to move to their task. In effect it is one giant sized toy. Despite lending itself to the wind, Hamtramck Disneyland has survived several major storms including a tornado that ripped through Hamtramck in 1997. This is a podcast of the video kind, and more specifically a QTVR. It can be viewed in iTunes, or fullscreen in Quicktime player. (In iTunes, make sure to press Play then click and drag around the scene.)
